Wanderer

Wanderer

by Shunta Allen

You tore my heart like paper
So, I folded it into a crane
It flew across a sea of grass that became a lion’s mane
I watched it float on rows of gold
never crinkling, tearing, or growing old
I let my heart wonder, I set it free
in hopes that one day you would bring it back to me
